Michael Paul and Alisa were married April 11, 2009. They had both been called into full-time Christian service as singles and were excited to see what God had in store for them as a married couple. The Lord quickly blessed them with a healthy baby boy on February 16, 2010. They cannot wait to begin serving the Lord as a family in Mombasa, Kenya.
Alisa was saved when she was 5 years old. After a Sunday School lesson, she knew that she needed God in her life to save her from her sin and an eternal separation from Him. The next week she followed Christ’s example of Baptism. She soon got her first taste of missions, at the age of 7, when her family moved to Puerto Rico as missionaries. It was here that God began to work on her heart for the mission field. This burden for missions was strengthened while she attended Tennessee Temple University. Upon returning to Ohio she began to pray about her surrendering to full time service and what that would look like in a specific way. Shortly thereafter she met Michael Paul.
Michael Paul was also raised in a Christian home with two Godly parents. He realized his need for Christ in his life as a sacrifice for his sin during a youth conference when he was 13. He also followed the Lord in Baptism and soon surrendered his life to full time service. He attended college to become a youth pastor in the fall of 2001. When 9/11 occurred he immediately left college and joined the United States Marine Corps. After his service with the Marines he felt that God was still calling him into full time service, so he began speaking at youth groups and summer camps. He soon met Alisa. During this time he was reconnected with a friend from college who was planning a short term trip to Africa.
It was on this trip that God confirmed His call to both Michael Paul and Alisa. They fell in love with the Kenyan people and are excited to show them God’s love.
The Leeks are a part of a team of believers from Grace Baptist Church. Their passion is to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ with the Kenyan people. While planting churches and establishing national pastors, Team Kenya will also be attempting to show God’s love to the Kenyans through several other ministries.
Along with planting churches, the Leeks are interested on helping to disciple future missionaries and future pastors through an internship program that would be established in the future. This would allow high school and college students to experience the mission field in a new way. This program would hopefully result in missionaries being called and pastors with a bigger heart for missions.
