Matt and Melissa Guzman have experienced the importance of waiting on the Lord and trusting His plan. Both were burdened to serve in full time ministry early in their lives. God called Matt to full time ministry while a junior in high school. He pursued music at Pensacola Christian College and then later an Aviation Maintenance and Avionics degree at Cincinnati State. Melissa became a nurse and always felt a burden to use those skills as a tool to reach women and children of third world countries for Christ.

Shortly after their marriage in 1995, they surrendered to missions. However, it was not until July 22, 2007 that God called them to the mission field of Kenya. A few months before, their hearts were specifically impressed to pray that God would send missionaries from within their home church. What a sense of humor God has! After a June 2008 survey trip, God confirmed within both their hearts the desire to minister in Mombasa, Kenya, along with their two daughters, Michaela and Tess.

While their primary focus will be church planting, they have a desire to disciple and use various methods of ministry to demonstrate the love of Christ and to reach the surrounding community of Mombasa with the gospel. Along with feeding centers and schools, they are especially burdened to begin medical ministries that employ and meet the physical needs of nationals. More specifically, they have a vision to begin a Pregnancy Care Center providing physical care and counseling for mothers that promotes biblical views concerning purity and sanctity of life.

They are excited and humbled by the new opportunity God has given them and consider it a privilege to serve Him and be a part of Team Kenya. The desire of their hearts is to know God more and glorify him while reaching out to the lost in Mombasa. Please pray for the Guzmans as they wait patiently on the Lord for his timing in the ministry He has called them to.
