God’s Word clearly calls us to love Him before all others; He also tells us that our life is short and to be taken seriously. It is with these principles in mind that Shantelle is excited to get to the mission field God has called her: Mombasa, Kenya.
Shantelle felt God’s call to serve in full time ministry, specifically missions, in high school. She attended Baptist Bible College and after her sophomore year did a missions internship in the country of Zambia, Africa. It was after this internship that Shantelle realized God had increased her desire and burden for missions. She graduated from BBC with a major in Missions and a minor in Elementary Education in 2004.
After graduating from BBC, Shantelle moved to San Diego, CA to serve as a teacher. It was while she was in California that she had the opportunity to visit Africa two more times, this time to Nairobi in 2006 and Mombasa in 2008. These trips helped solidify her love of the African people, their culture, and their need of Jesus. When asked to join Team Kenya, it was an answer to prayer. In August 2008 she moved to Mason, OH to work more closely with Team Kenya.
Shantelle’s focus while in Mombasa will be on helping her team church plant, specifically in the area of children’s ministry. Her other goals while in Mombasa will be: to train adult nationals how to effectively run a children’s ministry with limited or no resources, work with schools, teachers, and feeding centers. God has placed the burden in Shantelle’s heart to work with orphans and to set up orphan care programs.
It is so exciting to look back and see how God brought her to work with Team Kenya. It is with this same excitement and knowledge of God’s faithfulness that she is looking forward to the future! Her desire is to share the hope of Jesus and make His name famous! Please pray for Shantelle as she prepares to serve in Mombasa, Africa.
